Recently, president elect Donald Trump has been criticized for upsetting decades old tradition of foreign policy. Receiving a call from the President of Taiwan being the most prominent example.
2setsofrules applies to the media as much as any other organization – maybe more. When our current president “normalized” relations with Cuba, that act upset decades old tradition in foreign policy. But listening to and reading most of the media, the left leaning media, you wouldn’t know it. Or how about when our soon to be ex-president insulted Benjamin Netanyahu early in his first administration. Insulting Israel, one of our oldest allies in the middle east, certainly broke with decades old foreign policy. The left leaning media, no biggie.
I think the worst part of the Cuba “deal”, is the Cuban people don’t appear to have gained anything. Any economic benefits certainly only flow to the dictator that runs the country. So not only has our soon to be ex-president broken decades old foreign policy, he is helping to prop up a dictator that routinely imprisons and tortures his own people. And the left leaning media, why, they don’t see any problem there. But Trump take a phone call from Taiwan, you would think the world was coming to an end.
The hypocrisy of the left leaning media, and the 2setsofrules they live by, is on display every day. Just read a paper, website, or turn on the TV.
