Now that a gem has won the Whitehouse, forgiving student debt is once again front and center.
As always, what’s left out of these conversations about eliminating student debt is the ever increasing cost of a college degree – what caused the problem.
So then why hasn’t every pol, every college president and university elite beaten a path to Purdue University where its president, Mitch Daniels, has not raised tuition for 8 years?
If Mitch Daniels can do it, certainly all the other smartest people in the world should be able to wouldn’t you think?
Is it because that would mean actually having to do your job and make tough decisions as opposed to the easy path of simply handing out candy?
Why don’t we start with lowering the cost and making it more affordable for everyone before simply forgiving the debt.
