In a story posted on NBC 25 News, Michigan’s Governor Whitmer ordered all insurance companies to issue a refund to state residents. In her statement to the press, she said :
“Michiganders have been staying safe and staying home and they should see the benefit in reduced auto insurance rates during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Gov. Whitmer. “Every family is feeling added financial pressure due to this virus, and this order will provide some much-needed relief to drivers.”
2setsofrules wonders why then she also didn’t order the state of Michigan to issue property tax refunds to taxpayers. At least that portion that goes to support public schools. After all, public schools have not been providing the same service to school children. The kids went home in March !! On-line learning in no way replaces in class learning – assuming kids even participate.
But oh yeah … public schools mean unions. And Whitmer if nothing else is owned by the unions.
One set of rules for the big bad insurance companies. Another set of rules for union money.
