The mayor of Seattle, Jenny Durkan, wasn’t quite so supportive of the CHOP protestors once they decided to march to her house.
From an article on the incident, Durkan’s office responded in a part: “Instead of working to make true change, Councilmember Sawant continues to choose political stunts. Tonight she did so without regard for the safety of the Mayor and her family.”
So it’s one set of rules when the protestors take over an entire section of the city and do so without regard for the safety of the people living and working in the area known as CHOP, but it’s entirely different when the protestors come to your front door. Got it.
Mayor Durkan at one point described what was going on in CHOP as possibly being “the summer of love”. Why can’t the summer of love be on her front lawn?
